When should I start the application process?

Please begin the application process during the early fall one year prior to the anticipated enrollment of your child.

What kind of students are admitted to Clintonville Academy?

Our goal is to ensure that Clintonville Academy is the right “fit” for the student, family, and school. CA looks for students who are motivated to achieve academic success and want to become responsible global citizens.

A typical CA student is one who will not only give 100% in our academic, extra-curricular and co-curricular programs, but will, in return, contribute to the Clintonville Academy community: academically, artistically, athletically, and socially.

Do you accept students with learning differences?

A student with a mild learning difference will most likely be successful at Clintonville Academy if:

• The student demonstrates emotional stability.
• The student possess a strong work ethic.
• The student’s learning difference is managed, medically or therapeutically, in such a way that the student completes assigned work, maintains focus and works independently.
• The student compensates for his learning difference utilizing minimal accommodations.

At what age do students begin the Pre-K / Kindergarten programs?

Students beginning Pre-Kindergarten must be four years old before the first day of school, the year they start Pre-K.

Kindergarten students must be five years old by September 30th, the year they start Kindergarten. All Kindergarten students take an entrance evaluation to be sure they are ready for an all-day program.

Do you provide transportation for students?

Clintonville Academy owns a school bus which is used to transport students for field trips and sporting events. Any CA family who lives over two miles from the school is entitled to bus transportation through their home school district or financial reimbursement for mileage from the district in which they live.

Do you offer scholarships or financial aid?

Scholarships are available to families who have been members of Clintonville Academy for at least one year. Students must maintain a “B” average and a conduct score of at least 88%. Scholarships are issued for financial need and give parents a 25% discount in tuition for the year.

We offer the EdChoice Scholarship to children who are assigned to a failing Columbus school. Please go through the State Department of Education to get details regarding timelines, then call us to schedule a tour or student visitation.

Where do Clintonville Academy's families live?

Our families come from more than 25 zip codes in central Ohio, including Worthington, Dublin, Grove City, Reynoldsburg, Pataskala, Canal Winchester, Gahanna, Westerville, Buckeye Lake, Hilliard, and of course, Clintonville, among others!

How does the school communicate with parents?

At Clintonville Academy, parents are an integral part of the learning environment – therefore the relationships between the school and our parents is very important to us.

We encourage open communication between parents and members of the faculty and administration. Through daily e-mails, the weekly “Cougar Courier” update, and face-to-face communication, we strive to keep parents informed of every step of their child’s education.

Are parents involved in the school?

Clintonville Academy parents are encouraged to participate in the life of the school! Parents volunteer on a regular basis at the school and participate on a number of school committees if they are part of the tuition service credit program. Many CA parents choose to share their skills and expertise with our school, which is a great way for their children to see leadership and volunteerism.

Do you offer before-and after-school programs?

An extended day program for students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8 is offered each day for regular daily care or on a drop-in basis.

Does Clintonville Academy have any summer programs?

Yes! CA offers a summer program (C.A.S.P.) open to our students and their friends. The program includes field trips, swim club days, movies, games, library visits, and more. Details about our summer program offerings are sent out to families every April.

Where do your graduates go after the 8th grade?

Our students go on to independent, public, and parochial schools throughout the greater Columbus area including Bishop Watterson, DeSales, The Metro School, Columbus Alternative, Worthington Schools, and The Wellington School – among others.

Clintonville Academy graduates have a reputation within the secondary school community for being strongly prepared for and enthusiastic about the academic rigors of high school.

TESTIMONIALS

Since joining the CA community, my son has an entirely new outlook on school. He still hates getting up early (lol), but he’s made close friends he enjoys seeing every day, and is making marked improvement in subjects he used to struggle with. So thankful!

One of the best experiences my daughter has had at CA was after a misunderstanding between her and a classmate, that left her upset and unable to focus. Mrs. Quehl kindly pulled her aside and asked her what happened. In no time at all, she was calm again and able to finish her work – and Mrs. Quehl even met with both girls before the day ended, to make sure things were resolved.

What we appreciate about CA is the chance to be involved with the families of our son’s friends. We’ve volunteered on school projects together and gotten to know them well enough that we’re completely comfortable knowing who he’s with when they spend time together outside of school.
