Foreign Language Study and Travel Abroad

From the time Clintonville Academy was founded, we have always believed that learning a second language is critical to developing into a well rounded global citizen. Our students begin learning either French or Spanish when they enter our school in Pre-Kindergarten and by the time they graduate, they will have had the opportunity to study a second language for 10 years! A majority of our graduating 8th graders test into sophomore or junior language programs in high school.

Two of our greatest assets are our foreign language teachers, Madame Karen Pollock — one of the original founders of Clintonville Academy and Senora Maria Saldana — a native of Mexico. Both Madame and Senora have decades of combined experience in teaching students a foreign language. Not only do students learn the essential vocabulary and verb structure, but they also learn practical use of the language and conversation.

The pinnacle of our foreign language study program is an 8th grade trip to either France or Spain, where students along with Madame and Senora travel abroad to put their language skills to use and see all the wonderful places they have studied in language class while at Clintonville Academy.

Here are some photos from the 8th grade trip to France in the summer of 2014:
